Paola Lenti's Origami collection presentation

Year after year, the story that Nerosicilia's writing with Etna's lava stone is becoming more and more extensive and full of new content. A tale of great expertise, constant spirit of research and, above all, genuine passion for their territory. The result is there for all to see: extraordinary surfaces, with a strong aesthetic charge and unequivocal technical performance, obtained from lava stone, a unique and original material, capable of imparting exclusive characteristics to any type of contemporary environment, domestic or otherwise.

One of the most significant chapters of this story is undoubtedly related to the collaboration with the Paola Lenti company, which is renewed again this year with the participation of nerosicilia in ELEMENTI, the event realised on the occasion of Milan Design Week in the industrial spaces of Fabbrica Orobia 15.

Paola Lenti uses the nerosicilia lava stone slabs as primary element srespecting their nature and interpreting their diversity, and transforms them into Origami an unprecedented, self-decorating floor, simply because the slabs are heterogeneous from each other for the different types of processing to which they are subjected.

The slabs were modulated to become a floor covering by cutting, according to a precise pattern, the basic tiles in untreated natural lava and inserting, in some of the resulting sections, inserts in oxidised lava.

The inspiration of the compositions and modularity of cuts is vaguely Japanese and takes up a design dear to the artistic sensibility of Paola Lenti, who for Origami wanted to preserve the nature of the material in the first place and sought to enhance the vibrations of colour that the material itself can present through processes that do not compromise its fundamental characteristics.

As was already the case at the Sciara table project companies Paola Lenti and Nerosicilia have combined their specific and peculiar skills to create something new. In this case, Paola Lenti's decorative thinking was applied to a material for which Nerosicilia provided the most appropriate processing to achieve the imagined result.
