PAOLA LENTI AND NEROSICILIA
A unique material that reveals the soul of a territory and lends itself to infinite expressive possibilities: this is the lava stone of Nerosicilia, extracted from quarries on the slopes of Etna and transformed into exclusive surfaces with exceptional technical and aesthetic qualities. This living, versatile material has a strong personality and it is capable of defining contemporary living spaces and meeting their functional and design needs.
For the second consecutive year, Paola Lenti is interpreting the fascinating characteristics of this material, presenting Incontri and Frazioni, two new lava stone floor coverings, at IN SCENA, the event organised for Fuorisalone 2019 at the industrial spaces of Fabbrica Orobia 15. The exhibition is conceived as a sequence of architectural structures arranged like theatre wings, a sort of stage where Paola Lenti recounts her journey in a continuous dialogue between colour, material and form. This is where the two new surfaces designed for Nerosicilia find their place, confirming Paola Lenti's strong interest in the intrinsic qualities of lava stone, preserving its naturalness and enhancing its extraordinary expressive power.
As with the Origami project in 2018, Paola Lenti chose to subject the material to the oxidation process, allowing herself to be surprised by the new chromatic and decorative effects that emerged.
Paola Lenti thus creates two unique geometric designs that delve even deeper into the specific properties of the material, allowing it to express its natural characteristics. This approach leaves room for the multiple shades of color that emerge from the various degrees of oxidation, highlighting the material's innate beauty.
