HISTORY
Between the late 19th century and the early 20th century, thousands of tons of Pietra Pece were exported. The raw material, cut into small pieces, was transported by mule-drawn carts to the small port of Mazzarelli, known today as Marina di Ragusa.
In 1991, during its period of greatest expansion, production exceeded 1.2 million square meters.
It was a period during which thousands of workers and families were involved, driving the economy of the entire province of Ragusa and leading to the creation of various related industries that lasted for centuries.
With its epicentre in Ragusa, all the cities of the
surrounding area have used this stone.
That stone we call 'petrapics' is ancient,
very old. To use it today is not only
an elegant way to decorate and enrich our
houses, but an intelligent way to pass on
ancient traditions and a never-ending sense of beauty.

SURFACES
Its morphological origin and different colorations are due to the presence of fossil carbon and oils in the subsoil, which give it a silky texture.
The colors range from light ivory to warm grey and deep brown.

Nero Pece is distinguished by the presence of shades and fossils that have been preserved for millennia.
Grigio Pece
Grigio Pece is a warm grey shade with veins and fossils that tend towards beige.

Bianco Pece is light ivory in color, as it is extracted from the part of the quarry with the lowest presence of hard coal.
