chair\_ONE / Anniversary Edition
chair\_ONE, the iconic chair designed by Konstantin Grcic for Magis, proudly features Nerosicilia as a contributor to a special project celebrating the history and future of contemporary design.
For this limited edition, consisting of 16 unique pieces suspended between design and sculpture, the original concrete base has been completely reinterpreted. In its place stands a raw, irregular, and deeply textural form, made of Nerosicilia lava stone sourced from Mount Etna.
Each base is unique, with surfaces reminiscent of lunar landscapes and the primordial nature of volcanic rock. The contrast between the rough strength of the stone and the engineering precision of the die-cast aluminum shell—enhanced by a gold finish—gives this edition extraordinary symbolic and aesthetic value.
Born as a fragile and visionary object, chair\_ONE has transformed into an icon of design. Twenty years later, the collaboration with Nerosicilia celebrates its radical roots, highlighting the beauty of natural material and the ability of lava stone to become part of an international project of excellence.
The anniversary edition was presented to the public with an exhibition curated by Konstantin Grcic, held from May 10 to 26 at the Royal Gardens of Venice, in St. Mark’s Square.
