Nerosicilia at ICFF 2025: the beauty of Etna lava stone captivates New York

From March 18 to 20, 2025, Nerosicilia brought the essence of Sicily to the heart of New York, taking part in ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair), one of the leading events for contemporary international design. At Stand 622–624 in the Javits Center, architects, interior designers and industry professionals experienced an immersive journey into the world of Etna lava stone—reinterpreted through Italian innovation and craftsmanship.

Etna Lava Stone Takes Center Stage in Contemporary Design

In its exhibition space, Nerosicilia showcased the evolution of lava stone—a natural, identity-rich material—through 7 totems highlighting the variety of its surfaces: from light gray to deep black, including ceramicized variations and finishes made with recycled glass. A perfect balance of aesthetics, sustainability and technological research that captured the attention of interior design and architecture professionals.

Nerosicilia’s ability to blend Sicilian tradition with the demands of international design was further expressed through a wide range of textures, colors and formats—offering unique solutions for premium cladding, flooring, decorative surfaces and contract projects.

The Mosaicomicro Collections: mosaic as a material narrative

Alongside the lava stone totems, visitors also explored 9 totems dedicated to the Micro collections, crafted from recycled glass and clay. Each composition offered a distinct interpretation of artisanal mosaic: a harmonious dialogue between minimal detail and the primal strength of natural material.

U.S. debut for the Cubo Wireless Speakers in lava stone

Among the highlights on display at ICFF 2025, the U.S. debut of the Cubo Wireless Speaker by Nerosicilia drew significant interest. These audio speakers, crafted from authentic Etna lava stone, feature a unique design where technology, nature, and craftsmanship come together in a high-end object—designed to enrich any environment with style, sound quality and artisanal excellence.

The Cubo speakers were presented in six variants: the natural anthracite finish, which enhances the material richness of the stone, and the colored versions—Orange, Green, and Light Blue—expressing a refined and contemporary color research. Each piece is the result of meticulous artisanal craftsmanship, encapsulating the energy of the volcano and the purity of sound.

Nature, innovation and sustainability at the heart of Nerosicilia’s philosophy

Participation in ICFF 2025 reaffirmed Nerosicilia’s commitment to advancing responsible design, where respect for raw materials and sustainable innovation guide every stage of the production process. Etna lava stone is not just a raw material—it is identity, memory and future.

We thank everyone who visited our stand and look forward to seeing you at the next stops on this journey through nature, design and Italian craftsmanship.
