NEROSICILIA / LEONARDO TALARICO
Baroque & Neobaroque Festival 2025 — Piazza San Giovanni, Ragusa
Living Matter in the Heart of Baroque
For the fifth edition of the Baroque & Neobaroque Festival, Nerosicilia returns to Ragusa with two installations by Leonardo Talarico: Re-Design Tower and Sinfonia Vulcanica. Two works that were already highlights at Milan Design Week, now taking center stage in one of the symbolic locations of Sicilian Baroque: Piazza San Giovanni.
Re-Design Tower
First presented in Milan in 2024, the Re-Design Tower is a vertical architecture made from over 400 elements of regenerated lava stone, sourced from Nerosicilia’s historical archive. An ideal tower that points not only upwards but also toward the future of memory and reuse.
In Ragusa, the Tower takes on new meaning: immersed in the monumentality of the late-Baroque city, it becomes a symbol of urban rebirth and a sustainable vision of architectural heritage. A bridge between past and future, where material transforms into contemporary language.
Sinfonia Vulcanica
After its success at Design Week 2025, Sinfonia Vulcanica arrives in Sicily. Standing nine meters tall, the work is a piano-sculpture made of metal and lava stone that celebrates the power of nature and the force of sound. Inside, the Cubo speakers—lava stone speakers designed by Nerosicilia—emit a deep, material vibration: the voice of the volcano, translated into music.
A Dialogue Between Eras
For the first time, Re-Design Tower and Sinfonia Vulcanica come together in the same space, engaging in a visual and conceptual dialogue with the surrounding Baroque architecture. The contrast between the sculpted stone of the past and the reinterpreted stone of the present creates an immersive and poetic experience where design, art and tradition merge.
Nerosicilia, through the vision of Leonardo Talarico, offers a new narrative of Sicilian identity: made of lava, light and memory.
